Inspiration Board #9: Alice In Wonderland Wedding

I read today that one of the major themes for 2014 is the "Alice In Wonderland" theme. And while I've already seen several of these down-the-rabbit-hole themed weddings, I absolutely can not WAIT to see more! I'm a huge fan of anything fairytale-related (exceedingly so for someone my age), including the television series "Once Upon A Time" and the recent spin-off, "Once Upon A Time In Wonderland." For those of you who may be thinking of utilizing this popular theme in your big day, here are some ideas!

Signature Spirit Series: Martinis!

When I think of a classic cocktail, my mind automatically goes to martinis. We all know a classic martini is a mix of vodka or gin and vermouth, garnished with olives. But did you know there are actually many different ways to make a martini? Here are a few of my favorite takes on this classic drink!

Blood Orange Martini

This citrusy take on the classic replaces original vodka with citrus-flavored and substitutes dried blood orange segments for the olives... perfect for an outdoors summer wedding! See the full recipe here.

Chartreuse Martini

Adding this French liquor gives the martini the yellow-greenish color and, in my opinion, that extra bit of elegance. I can definitely see this as the signature cocktail for a classic wedding! See the full recipe here.

Cranberry Martini

I can't think of a better accent to the classic martini for a winter wedding than cranberry! See the full recipe here.

Shiso Martini

This refreshing take on the classic adds shiso leaves and lime juice, making it another great option for an outdoors spring wedding. See the full recipe here!

Pear Melba Martini

Don't worry autumn brides, I haven't forgotten about you! This blend of autumn pears and raspberries is perfect for your fall wedding! See the full recipe here.

Currently Crushing: PANDORA Charms

Whew, I don't know about you guys, but I am worn. out. Who knew that a holiday weekend could be so exhausting! From pigging out on some Thanksgiving day deliciousness to shopping and working the Black Friday sales, I had a busy weekend before the actual weekend even began! Not that I'm complaining; I loved spending time with my family and friends! And also shopping- loved shopping. One of my favorite items that I saw Santa buy me was this PANDORA charm bracelet. I also got this "clear pavĂ© heart" charm, as well as a pair of these "you're a star" clips...yes, apparently I've been a very good girl this year. :) With my purchase, they gave me a little booklet of all their charms, and going through it, I noticed a lot of them coincide with some of the most popular wedding themes! Here are some of my favorite charms to add to your bracelet for your wedding day.

Signature Spirit Series: Whiskey

Happy Tuesday! Are you ready for another installment of the Signature Spirit Series? A couple weeks ago, we covered champagne cocktails and last week we featured some fun holiday peppermint schnapps drinks! Today, I thought we would kick it up a notch by choosing a liquor that definitely has a, well, kick to it. Yup, you guessed it! Good ol' whiskey.

This spirit has a reputation of being a manly man's drink, but it can be suitable for all guests if you find the right mixture! Below are some whiskey cocktails I found that can bring a little something for everyone at your special event!

Mint Julep

This popular cocktail is affectionally known as the official drink of the south. A mix of bourbon, mint leaves, sugar and water makes this one refreshing signature beverage! See the full recipe here, y'all.

Whiskey Sour

This next drink is my personal favorite cocktail - yup, I'm a Jack Daniels girl! This just goes to show that not all whiskey drinks have to be super strong or just for men. A blend of lemon juice, orange juice, and whiskey, this fruity drink is a great option for a wedding in any season! See the full recipe here.

Whiskey Lemonade

This summery cocktail is as simple as it's name. Just blend together whiskey, lemon juice and simple syrup and garnish with lemon zest and you've got yourself an easy-to-make signature drink for your big day. See the full recipe here!

The Big Apple

If mixing whiskey with lemon juice makes a great summer cocktail, it only makes sense that mixing it with apple will make a great fall drink! This mix of apple, whiskey, vermouth, bitters and sparkling apple cider is a yummy way to warm up any cool-weather wedding. See the full recipe here!

Irish Buck

This lime-infused cocktail doesn't have to just be enjoyed on Saint Patrick's Day (or just by us Irish folks for that matter!) This refreshing drink will be great for any Spring wedding or Bridal Shower brunch! See the full recipe here.

Currently Crushing: Sailormade

I like to start off my Monday morning with an excess of two things: coffee and pretty. Since I've already had the first, I thought I'd share a healthy dose of the second! As a born-and-raised Maryland girl who lives just minutes from the Chesapeake Bay, I'm a lover of all things nautical. So it's no surprise that I'm currently crushing on Sailormade, whose collection of wristwear and belts aims to capture the feeling of being on the water so you can take it with you wherever you go. These would make great accessories for a nautical wedding, or lovely gifts for your bridal party! I've picked out a few of my favorites, but you should definitely head over to their website to see the full collection!
